The 4 P’s – Tools For Men

The 4 P’s

from Pastor George Sasso, CCCH Marriage & Family Ministry

The 4P’s are a tool that we can use to remind us of our responsibilities as leaders in our households. They are Priest, Provider, Protector & Pursuer.

Priest

We must be men of God who will love our wives as Christ loves the Church! We must be willing to read the Word, share and explain the God’s Word as it relates to our own lives and our commitment to walk with Him by the indwelling power of The Counselor; which is The Holy Spirit.
“…husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church…” Ephesians 5:22-23

We are called to proclaim the Lord and be the spiritual leaders to those God has entrusted to us. We are to live lives separated from the lusts of the flesh and committed to the things of the Lord so our lives are a worthy example to all.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10

Provider

We are to provide Spiritual leadership and physical welfare for those the Lord has entrusted to us.
“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” – 1 Timothy 5:8

Protector

The Lord has called us to be the earthly Spiritual and physical protector for those He has entrusted to us.

“Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust.” – 1 Timothy 6:18-20

Pursuer

No godly woman will turn down a godly man who sets his heart, soul, mind and strength on living to pursue these godly characteristics.

“But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” – 1 Timothy 6:11-12
